  This restaurant is the resurrection of a local favorite of the Chinese community from the 90s. They reused the name AND the location. I remember running around this place during Christmas eve dinners...
  
  Anyway, let's put the nostalgia aside... , the food here is actually quite delicious. It suffers from the same service issues that plagues almost all Chinese restaurants. They're not inattentive but they're not bad.
  
  Their stir frys are well made and dishes aren't overly greasy or salty. Great place for a low key Chinese dinner with your family!

  An okay Chinese restaurant - despite ungainly looks, the food is quite decent, and service is friendly.
  
  While above the generally low average quality of service and food, Golden Island still falls short from impressing though.
  
  Think typical buckets of rice plopped on your table next to a plate amounting huge pile of vegetable and hefty chunks of steamed vegetable - with scarce pieces of protein stuck in the pile here and there.
  
  Since menus give no slack to English speakers, be sure to ask your server what are you actually trying to order - or you may get a whole roasted duck popping out of the kitchen, while what you may have envisioned was some noodles with pieces of duck meat.
  
  Other than these common little idiosyncrasies, shared by many (many!) Chinese restaurants, Golden Island is an okay place to eat some. If you could park nearby, which is unlikely.

  I used to come here as a kid and I remember the restaurant building a good reputation. They closed a number of years back and recently reopened. I was happy to see that they continue to serve quality Chiu Chow style dishes. Service was excellent and so was the food. Highly recommend!
